Tofurkey and Gravy Soda Review

Thanksgiving is just around the corner, and those crazy folks at Jones Soda are at it again. These are the same people that brought you holiday classics including sugar plum, Christmas tree, egg nog, and Christmas ham soda. This year they put Thanksgiving in a bottle with their Tofurky and Gravy Jones Soda . No matter what flavor you can think of, Jones can put in liquid bubble form for you.

I actually have a bottle of this to taste test. At first glance, they seem to have the color down. It looks like water down gravy. Not a bad thing, especially if you are a gravy lover like myself. It has a gravy-ish smell and taste to it. I would not say I can down this whole thing or would I buy a 6 pack to enjoy watching the Laker game. But it is interesting, weird is more like it. It is like a great gag gift for someone (like your vegetarian friend or the person you do not like at work). That is all the nice things I can say about this soda. My one question to them is “Why?” They actually tried to make a savory soda.

But not all Jones Soda are this outrageous, their normal sodas are actually pretty tasty. Target usually carries them and at a decent price too.

Black Friday early

Macy's is the place for early Black Friday sales. Every year a week before Black Friday, Macy's has a pretty decent sale. A lot of the sale items are actually better than the Black Friday deals.

They had also sent out a $10 off $25 coupon in the mail and online, which made the savings even more. The sale started 11/17 as a preview day and continued to the next day.

I went there twice and both times were able to leave the store with some pretty good deals. The hard part was getting to the $25 mark. I did not want to buy something I did not really want to wear, so I went over the $30 mark both times.

It kinda fun trying to find the best deal you can get, and at the same time get some much needed new clothes.

Search in real time

Are you tired of your old search engine? It seems that every time you use Google or Yahoo to search for something, you get the same boring results. It almost seems like big companies pay these search engines to put their desired links on top. When you want an honest review of an item or a restaurant, those links are located way in the back. Well at leapfish, they are revolutionizing what you know as a search engine. They are offering a new real time search engine feature. What this does for your search is that it pulls links from all the popular social network sites out there, including Twitter, Digg, YouTube, and blogs. You will still get your normal search results, but with these other sites, you get the variety of results you are looking for.

Say for example I want to get a restaurant review of Joe’s Crab Shack. I type that in, and it pulls links from all the sites above. I actually have links from Twitter in which I found a post for a free kid’s meal. I have video links from the people that have made recordings in there. I also links to blogs that have made posts about the restaurant.

You have to try this search engine out. Once you do, you will never use those other ones again.

Where are the Vegas deals?

We are currently looking for some deals for Las Vegas for the week between Christmas and New Year, but we have not seen any. Most casinos have those days priced as regular priced days, and they do not have any promotions either. Most of the promotions expire on 12/24.

Some of the promos I am looking for are like buy 2 nights get one free or casino credits.

I am off a week and half for the holiday, so it will be nice to go there again this year. We have a friend in the area. And my wife loves going outlet shopping there.

Hopefully as the break nears, there will be more last minute deals in the work.

Dirt Devil and Black Friday

One thing we need in our house is a new vacuum cleaner. The one we currently have, we have owned since we purchased our house 10 years ago. It still does the job, but with carpets it has it troubles. It can’t pick up a lot of small items stuck to the carpet. And with a 3 year old around the house, there are a lot of things that get stuck in the carpet. Dirt Devil is posting a Dirt Devil Holiday Gift Guide. In addition to posting a collection of Dirt Devil cleaning products, they are also posting sites where you can get coupon and promo codes on the many Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals coming up next week. If you have been in a cave all this time, Thanksgiving is just next week.

The best part about this site is that it categorizes everything, so you do not have to waste time browsing sites that do not have what you need. There are over 300 ways to save on this site. In addition they have free shipping shortcut, and they will teach you all the promo code tricks in the book. My ideal gift still will be a new Dirt Devil vacuum. The DirtDevil.com site has many great online deals. I have my eye on the Reaction Fresh model, priced at only $119.99 on their website.

Chirstmas tree and infants-toddlers

A lot of people ask me at work if Brandon pulls the ornaments off of the Christmas. He actually does not. He is three years old. We told him not to touch the tree, and he has been pretty cooperative. He does not really like the feel of a pine tree, so that helps. Last year when we had the tree up, we did not really have problems either.

I have heard some people putting a baby gate around their tree so their kids will not get to it, but that does not really do anything to improve the feel of Christmas when it looks like you are trying to gate off your tree.

Another problem people have are cats. They like to climb up the tree or drink the water. I guess the only recommendation for that is to get an artificial tree. You can also go potless on your tree, but you have to be careful because the tree dries out faster. You do not want a fire hazard in your house. The same with kids and babies, I hear stories of them messing with the water too, so I guess this is a bigger problem than I thought.

Earn money with Twitter

Are you a big fan of using Twitter? It is one of the biggest social networks on the internet right now. You may already have an account, but it is not just regular people like you and me that have Twitter accounts. NBA basketball players, movie stars, and other famous people all are Twitting. I hope that is the right word to use. Well now you can earn money using Twitter. With Izea, they will pay you to do Twitter advertising. These are the same people that have been paying you to blog about the things you like.

With the current recession, who would not like to earn more money? Most of us can use the extra money to buy things or pay the bills. With the holidays coming up, you can use the money for Christmas presents for your friends and family. Or you can use for a present for yourself. Black Friday is coming up soon, and you can use the money to get some good deals. And if you are already using Twitter, you are 90% on your way already. With this program, all you are doing is writing tweets about the sponsors and including their links. It is simple as that. Check out their website to sign up for sponsored tweets. You can also learn more about this program from there.

Disney's UP

This past week, Disney's Up was released on DVD. I had ordered it on Netflix to watch. Brandon and Anna had already seen it while there were in Malaysia, but I have not seen it yet. Brandon excited watched it with me. I had heard it was a little sad.

Overall I enjoyed the movie. My favorite character has to be Dug the Dog. The movie moved quickly, and I found it pretty exciting in the end. The following day I returned the DVD back to Netflix, and Brandon was asking about it. So we decided to purchase it.

Target was having a sale for the Blu Ray, DVD, and digital copy. You get all three for only $19.99. This is a pretty good deal because if you just buy the DVD it would of cost $15.99. Target also has a Black Friday sale for just the DVD for $13, but the Blu Ray DVD package was the best deal. In addition you also get a free journal book.

Leapfish's new feature

The year 2009 opens with some cool advances in search engine technology. The company is called leapfish, and they claim to now have the faster search engine on the net. So move over Google and Yahoo because there is a new kid in town. When LeapFish.com first introduced itself this year, it offered instantaneous results while you are typing. Now in November Leapfish has a new feature. It can offer Real Time results from all of the social media sites out there including Twitter, Facebook, Digg, and much more.

You have to go to their site and try it out for yourself. You can type in Los Angeles Lakers and click on the Real Time button. It will bring you news results of the Lakers, including last night scores. But in addition, it will also bring you results from Digg and Twitter. You can get all the latest chatter on the team, players, and other related news. I found a link with someone selling tickets to the next game on Twitter. You get the broadest range of results with this search engine. It is the neatest thing out there on the net right now. Once you try their site, you will never go back to Google or Yahoo again.

Black Friday is almost here!

I am constantly browsing the post on Slickdeals to see if there are any new leaks for Black Friday sales. We are still not sure of our plans yet. I am thinking of just heading to the mall to see what they have for sale. We have nothing we really need, just maybe clothes for Brandon. Anna is also looking for a new laptop and digital camera.

I can't wait to see the Best Buy add. Usually they have some great deals on laptops, but the problem is that they usually have very few in stock, so you either have to spend the night in line or wake up really early.

I have read that places like Wal-mart will be open on Thanksgiving. They are hoping for less of the craziness on Friday (where someone was actually killed last year in the stampedes). Since we have no plans on Thursday, we may head over there to see what they have.

Also places like the Premium Outlet mall will be opened at midnight on Friday morning. They draw big crowds too (especially the Coach outlet). It should be fun this year too.
